The EAL Framework Process is part of a number of resources offered by Across Cultures alongside the Learning Village. This 4-day virtual course (a vital component of the overall Framework process) provides a key person in your school with training and resources for developing a flexible whole school framework for supporting EAL development. Designed to develop good practice, create consistency across the school and provide flexible resources to support differentiation. This course is a 4-day preparation training the participant to deliver a flexible and optional 12-hour course in their school.
All our courses are heavily interactive, following a system of modelling (with interaction) and collaborative group activities. For virtual courses, we achieve this through using special supported breakout rooms for different users, as well as collaborating on shared drives during the day. As a result of our collaborative approach, we aim to develop a sense of community with the other participants wherever you are located.
All courses have sufficient breaks built into the day to ensure you get time to digest information and make yourself a coffee, lunch or snack. All physical resources are delivered to you in advance of the course, so you can refer to key material during the course.
If you need technical support, there will be a registration period of an hour where participants can learn more about their online environment and how to engage with it. Please note that there will be a special room dedicated to those needing a little extra IT support.
This course includes Across Cultures EAL resources: enhanced admissions templates, assessment templates, complete induction-to-English with resources, class teaching guidelines, suggested in-class methodology and associated language learning strategies, family learning new-to-English induction framework, access to our online EAL Framework Hub and all the materials for training others to implement this framework in your school.
Additionally, the trainer receives Across Cultures certification as a registered programme trainer that allows them to train others in their school.
The programme is designed for Experienced Class Teachers, ESL/EAL teachers, School Leadership, Head Teachers to train others in their school.
This course is for supporting teachers of 6-16-year-old learners in schools (in the UK or international) where English is the language of instruction.
